Bridge House Equestrian Centre has been established for
over 30 years. Starting life as a riding school, Liz and Chris McIlwraith,
along with staff and friends spent years designing and building the existing
stables, indoor and outdoor schools, hay barn, wooded paddock and various
other out buildings all with the horse and rider in mind.
However, since Oct 2007 the yard stopped trading as a
riding school and turned it's hand to liveries. Nearly all the riding school
ponies found loan homes (through the riding school clientele) and stayed on
the yard, a few retired. A large proportion of the liveries are owned
privately and this means there is a mix of all ages on the yard - from 3
years up to a young, vibrant 56 year old (maybe even older). Most are
leisure riders who school and hack and a few compete at riding club level,
all for fun. The atmosphere is a relaxed happy one. A lot of the original
staff and friends who helped build Bridge House are still here, still
working or riding and people rarely leave, a testament to Liz and Chris's
leadership and management skills.
Bridge House are fortunate enough to own surrounding
fields and as well as using them for grazing, have over the years been able
to hold events such as Hunter Trials and ODE's in them. Check out our
'Events' page for regular updates, dates and schedules.
Please be advised that there are several pages that are
'works in progress' and will be completed as soon as possible.
